1. Plug the Mighty Mite into a grounded three-prong receptacle with 105 to 125 volts AC, 50 to 60 Hertz.
2. Use the set-up chart to find the tube’s settings, noting the positions for controls A (PIN ELIMINATION), B (FILAMENT), C (LOAD), D (SET UP), and the appropriate socket.
3. Adjust the PIN ELIMINATION switches as indicated. If no pins are listed, leave all switches up. Set the B, C, and D switches and insert the tube into the specified socket.
4. Set the Function switch to SHORTS and adjust the METER ZERO for a zero indication. Rotate the “D” switch through its positions and observe the SHORTS light. A light indicates a short of 300K or less. Some tubes may have normal shorts between heater and cathode, noted by an asterisk in the chart.
5. If the tube passes the SHORTS test, switch to EMISSION and read the emission quality on the meter’s top scale. Tubes in the questionable area may require further assessment.
