The B&K Precision manual provides detailed instructions for setting up and operating frequency counters, including models 1803A and 1804, with guidance on measuring frequency ranges and using various input jacks. It also includes troubleshooting steps, such as checking the maintenance section for adjustments, and instructions for warranty service if problems persist.
Manual Overview
The B&K Precision frequency counters, Models 1803A and 1804, are designed for measuring frequency ranges with high accuracy and resolution. The 1803A measures frequencies from 5 Hz to 100 MHz, while the 1804 extends this range up to 550 MHz using a prescale input. Both models feature a crystal oscillator with a time base accuracy of ±0.1 ppm, ensuring precise measurements. The display is an eight-digit LED, with overflow indication for counts exceeding 99.999999 MHz. The power/gate time switch allows selection between a 0.1-second gate for faster measurements and a 1.0-second gate for higher resolution. Input sensitivity varies, with the 1803A requiring 30 mV rms for frequencies up to 30 MHz, increasing to 100 mV rms for up to 100 MHz. The 1804 requires 50 mV rms for its full range. Troubleshooting involves ensuring proper signal application and verifying settings on the power/gate time and input select switches. Calibration adjustments are not detailed, but maintenance instructions suggest referring to the manual for applicable adjustments. For board-level issues, authorized service agencies handle repairs, with warranty coverage provided for defects in materials and workmanship for one year.
