Wavetek Model 135 Lin/Log Sweep Generator Overview

The Wavetek Model 135 Lin/Log Sweep Generator is a precision electronic test instrument designed for generating linear and logarithmic frequency sweeps. It is widely used in signal testing, frequency response analysis, and calibration of audio and RF equipment. This device enables engineers and technicians to perform accurate frequency sweeps across a broad range, facilitating detailed analysis of circuit behavior and system performance.

Main Features and Specifications

  • Frequency sweep range: 10 Hz to 1 MHz
  • Selectable linear or logarithmic sweep modes
  • Sweep time adjustable from 0.1 seconds to 100 seconds
  • Output amplitude adjustable up to 10 V peak-to-peak
  • High stability and low distortion output signal
  • Compact and rugged design suitable for laboratory and field use
  • Front panel controls for sweep rate, start/stop frequency, and output level

Basic Usage and Operation Tips

To operate the Wavetek Model 135, first select the desired sweep mode (linear or logarithmic) using the front panel switch. Set the start and stop frequencies within the device’s range, then adjust the sweep time to control how quickly the frequency changes. Connect the output to the device under test, ensuring proper impedance matching. Always begin with a low output amplitude and gradually increase to the required level to avoid damaging sensitive equipment.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

If the output signal is unstable or distorted, verify all cable connections and ensure the device is properly grounded. Check the calibration periodically using a known reference signal. Clean the front panel controls and connectors regularly to maintain reliable operation. In case of persistent issues, consult the schematic diagrams provided in the manual for detailed circuit troubleshooting.

Safety Reminder

Always operate the Wavetek Model 135 in a dry, well-ventilated environment. Avoid exposing the device to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures. Disconnect the unit from power before performing any maintenance or internal inspection. Follow all standard electrical safety procedures to prevent shock or damage to the equipment.
