Why am I getting a Wi-Fi Signal Lost message on my VisionPRO (TH8320WF or RTH8580WF) thermostat?

If you’re getting a Wi-Fi Signal Lost message on your VisionPRO (TH8320WF or RTH8580WF) thermostat, it probably lost internet connection. Please follow the steps below to remedy the issue.

VisionPRO-Wifi-Lost

*If your thermostat has lost wi-fi connection, you will be required to be on-location with the thermostat to reconnect it manually. For some users, a reconnection may be possible by remotely re-starting your wi-fi router. Check with your internet service provider for possible options.*

To reconnect your device to Wi-Fi:

  1. Make sure your router is online.
  2. Go to your thermostat on the wall and remove it from its base.
  3. Wait for 1 minute.
  4. Add the thermostat back to its base on the wall.

If that doesn’t work, try the steps below:

Resetting Thermostat’s Wi-Fi Settings

  1. Press System.
  2. You’ll see 5 blank boxes at the bottom of the screen. Press and hold Middle Box for about 5 seconds to change the screen.
  3. Press the left set of arrows until the first number is 0900.
  4. Press the right set of arrows until the second number is 0.
  5. Press Done at the bottom-left corner.

Reconnecting Thermostat to Wi-Fi

  1. Make sure Wi-Fi Setup is displayed at the top of the screen.
  2. On a mobile device, view the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Connect to NewThermsotat_[series of numbers/letters]. *This is a wifi connection between your phone and your thermostat – it is normal to receive a message that states “this connection has no access to the internet” – please dismiss the alert and continue. Do not allow the phone to change to another wi-fi connection until you have completed step 10.* If you do not see the ” NewThermsotat_[series of numbers/letters]” network, remove the thermostat faceplate from the wall for 30 seconds and then reattach it and reattempt.
  4. Wait for your browser to automatically open a setup screen. If this doesn’t happen, open a new browser on your mobile device and go to the web address 192.168.1.1.
  5. Find the name of your home network and press Red Button below it.
  6. Enter your home network’s password and press Connect.

If you’re still having issues, please call Honeywell Customer Care at 1-800-633-3991.

Why is my thermostat not adjusting for Daylight Saving Time?

The VisionPRO thermostats have the ability to automatically adjust for Daylight Light Saving Time. Due to unforeseen changes in 2007 to the law modifying the beginning and the end of Daylight Saving Time, thermostats that were originally released do not have the updated dates to update on the correct dates. Production changes were made as soon as possible following the law change to add the ability to automatically adjust to the new date settings. DST We are unable to accommodate requests to trade-in an older version of the thermostats to new ones after the change in the law. In these instances, we recommend turning off the Daylight Saving Time automatic adjustment feature. This can be done in the user setup (instructions in the operating manual). Then the time should be adjusted in the fall and spring just like many other clocks in the home.

Why does the backup (auxiliary) heat stage come on immediately when I raise the temperature setting?

The thermostat takes the temperature override as a need to reach the new temperature setting right away. It will run the backup heat only as long as necessary to reach new temperature setting.

Can the backlight be turned on all of the time?

It depends, if the thermostat is powered with a 24 Vac common it can be set to have continuous backlight. If the thermostat is battery powered, it cannot be set for continuous backlight. This is done by the installer in the installer setup settings of the thermostat. (Note, some models always require a common regardless of backlight setting).

How do I clean the thermostat screen?

Do not spray anything directly on the screen. Spray liquids onto a cloth, and then use the damp cloth to clean the screen. Use water or household glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleansers.
If you have a touchscreen, select “menu” then “clean screen”. The screen will remain locked for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds press “Done” to resume normal operation. This prevents accidentally changing the mode, set-point, etc. while cleaning

My thermostat does not show “Sched” or “Hold” buttons. Why?

If the thermostat is set for operation as a non programmable unit then it will not show Sched or Hold in the display. To check how the thermostat has been set up, please refer to the owner’s manual under Advanced Functions and refer to feature 0160.

How do I change the clock settings on the thermostat?

Newer Wi-Fi and some connected Honeywell thermostats, like the Lyric T5, VisionPro and certain Prestige models have a date option at the time setup that can include time adjustment for daylight savings time. If you have this feature, the thermostat will automatically update the time based upon the location that the device is registered in. If your thermostat does not have this auto-updating capability or the date is not enabled, you will need to manually adjust the time and date on your thermostat. Please follow the steps in the links bellow, according to the thermostat family model that you own.
