Operation

The SMY instrument can be operated remotely via an IEC-bus interface, compatible with IEC 625-1/IEEE 488/1 and IEC 625-2/IEEE 488.2 standards. To use the instrument in a basic application, connect it to a controller with an IEC bus cable and set the device address to 28 on the SMY. The first command sent will set the SMY to remote status, indicated by the REMOTE LED. Commands can be sent to reset the instrument, set frequency and level, and configure modulation settings. The device address can be set and displayed in LOCAL mode, and it remains stored even when the instrument is powered off. The address range is 0 to 30, with a factory setting of 28.
