The HP 18180A Interface is a combination RS-232C/V.24 and RS-449 interface pod designed for use with the HP 4952A protocol analyzer. It features connectors for interfacing with both the analyzer and external lines, with the top connector labeled PROTOCOL ANALYZER and the bottom connector labeled RS-232C/V.24. The interface includes 25 pins for jumpering, allowing users to adapt to different network cable pin assignments. Key pins such as 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 15, 17, 20, and 24 can be individually disconnected using breakout switches to isolate non-driven lines. The interface provides +12 and -12 volts via six source pins, enabling signal line control. LCD indicators show line status, with dark indicating an “on” or “space” state and blank indicating “off” or “mark” states. The Mark/Space Monitor pin allows users to check signal line levels, with indicators distinguishing between logical states based on voltage thresholds.
