Safety & Warnings
The manual contains several safety warnings and precautions for the R&S FSH Handheld Spectrum Analyzer:
– The device must only be operated in the conditions and positions specified by the manufacturer without obstructing ventilation. It is protected against splashing water and dust (IP protection class 51).
– Operation is only permitted on supply networks with a maximum of 16 A protection.
– For nominal voltage, a tolerance of +10% applies, and for nominal frequency, a tolerance of +5% applies unless otherwise specified in the datasheet.
– When measuring in circuits with voltages U., > 30 V, appropriate measures must be taken to ensure safety (e.g., suitable measuring instruments, fuses, current limitation, protective separation, insulation, etc.).
– For stationary devices without built-in fuses or similar protective devices, the supply circuit must be protected to adequately protect devices and users.
– Before switching on the device, ensure that the nominal voltage set on the device matches the mains voltage of the supply network.
– If it is necessary to change the voltage setting, the corresponding mains fuse of the device must also be changed if necessary.
– If the device is not equipped with a mains switch for mains disconnection, the plug of the connection cable is considered the disconnection device. Ensure that the mains plug is always easily accessible and readily available.
– Functional switches or electronic switches are not suitable for mains disconnection.
– When integrating devices without a mains switch into racks or systems, the disconnection device must be relocated to the system level.
– Local or country-specific safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed for all work.
– Before working on the device or opening it, disconnect it from the supply network.
– Adjustment, replacement of parts, maintenance, and repair must only be carried out by R&S-authorized electricians.
– Safety-relevant parts (e.g., mains switches, mains transformers, or fuses) must only be replaced with original parts. After replacing safety-relevant parts, a safety test must be conducted (visual inspection, protective conductor test, insulation resistance, leakage current measurement, function test).
– When connecting with information technology devices, ensure they comply with IEC950 / EN60950.
– NiMH batteries must not be exposed to high temperatures or fire. Keep batteries away from children.
– There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced incorrectly. Replace the battery only with an R&S type (see spare parts list).
– NiMH batteries are special waste. Dispose of them only in designated containers. Do not short-circuit the battery.
– Devices returned or sent for repair must be packed in the original packaging or packaging that protects against electrostatic charging and discharging and mechanical damage.
– Discharges via connectors can damage the device. Protect the device from electrostatic discharge during handling and operation.
– Clean the exterior of the device with a soft, non-linting dust cloth. Do not use solvents like nitro thinner, acetone, etc., as they can damage the front panel labeling or plastic parts.
– Additional safety instructions in this manual must also be observed.
