Operation
The HP 4155A/56A can be controlled using two command modes: the default HP 4155/56 command mode and the HP 4145 syntax command mode. The HP 4155/56 command mode allows the use of SCPI commands to control all functions of the device. The HP 4145 syntax command mode enables the execution of HP 4145A/B programs with minimal modifications, though it does not allow control of all functions of the HP 4155A/56A. Programs can be executed from the built-in HP Instrument BASIC (IBASIC) or an external computer.
To migrate HP 4145A/B programs, users can either create a program using IBASIC that mimics the desired ASP program or use SCPI commands to replicate the operations. For HP-IB programs, they can be run directly on the HP 4155A/56A in the HP 4145 syntax command mode or recreated using SCPI commands for execution in the HP 4155/56 command mode.
