Safety & Warnings
The manual includes the following safety warnings and precautions:
1. The tube tester is equipped with a fuse in the Grid Bias Circuit to protect the Bias potentiometer in case a shorted tube is tested. It is advised to always perform a short check before conducting a quality test.
2. A burned-out bias fuse lamp will prevent the mutual conductance meter from reading when the GM button is pressed. If the fuse lamp burns out, it should be replaced only with a No. 49 panel lamp.
3. The selector switches are electrically interlocked to prevent connecting two different voltages to the same tube pin, thus avoiding accidental shorts.
4. The SHORTS switch has six positions, with the first five used for testing the tube for shorts. The TUBE TEST position should only be used if the tube has no shorts. A steady glow on both plates of the neon lamp indicates a short, and a shorted tube should be discarded without further testing.
