Operation
Agilent 4155C/4156C provides three command modes to control the 4155C/4156C via GPIB interface:
1. 4155/4156 SCPI command mode: This is the default mode and allows control of most functions except for the timestamp, search, and enhanced stop condition supported by the FLEX mode.
2. 4155/4156 FLEX command mode: This mode allows faster execution of measurement functions compared to the SCPI command mode.
3. 4145 syntax command mode: This allows execution of 4145A/B programs on the 4155C/4156C with little or no modification, but not all functions can be controlled.
The current control mode can be confirmed by checking the language mode indicator on the screen or by entering the CMD? command. The indicator shows ‘S’ for SCPI, ‘F’ for FLEX, and ‘4’ for 4145 syntax command mode. The CMD? command returns ‘0’ for SCPI, ‘1’ for FLEX, and ‘2’ for 4145 syntax command mode.
