Safety & Warnings
The following general safety precautions must be observed during all phases of operation, service, and repair of the HP 3563A Control Systems Analyzer:
1. Ground the Instrument: To minimize shock hazard, the instrument chassis and cabinet must be connected to an electrical ground. The instrument is equipped with a three-conductor AC power cable, which must be plugged into an approved three-contact electrical outlet or used with a three-contact to two-contact adapter with the grounding wire firmly connected to an electrical ground.
2. Do Not Operate in an Explosive Atmosphere: The instrument should not be operated in the presence of flammable gases or fumes, as this constitutes a safety hazard.
3. Keep Away from Live Circuits: Operating personnel must not remove instrument covers. Component replacement and internal adjustments should be made by qualified maintenance personnel. Components should not be replaced with the power cable connected. Dangerous voltages may exist even with the power cable removed, so power should be disconnected and circuits discharged before touching them.
4. Do Not Service or Adjust Alone: Internal service or adjustment should not be attempted unless another person, capable of rendering first aid and resuscitation, is present.
5. Do Not Substitute Parts or Modify Instrument: To avoid introducing additional hazards, substitute parts should not be installed, and unauthorized modifications should not be made to the instrument. The instrument should be returned to a Hewlett-Packard Sales and Service Office for service and repair to ensure safety features are maintained.
Warnings precede potentially dangerous procedures throughout the manual, and instructions in the warnings must be followed. Dangerous voltages are present in the instrument, requiring extreme caution when handling, testing, and adjusting.
