Controls & Indicators
The front-panel controls and indicators of the Model 799 Tube Tester include the following:
– Test Sockets: Various types for different tube connections.
– Plate Jack: Connects the plate of the tube to test circuitry.
– Grid Jack: Connects the grid of the tube to test circuitry.
– Cathode Jack: Connects the cathode of the tube to test circuitry.
– Meter: Provides direct readout indicating the condition of the tube.
– Pin Straighteners: Used for straightening pins of 7 and 9-pin tubes.
– Heater Control: Offers voltage settings from 0 to 117 volts.
– Shunt Control: Provides Gm range control.
– Bias Control: Adjusts the grid bias.
– Leakage Switch: Measures inter-element leakage and tests for gas presence.
– Color Selector: Three-position switch for test socket receptacle arrangement.
– Line Adj: Standardizes line voltage and tube test potentials.
– Push-Button Switches: Includes functions for low/high Gm range, power/high-voltage rectifier tests, and more.
– Line Fuse: Protects the tester and tube under test.
– Removable Plate: Allows for future upgrades with new sockets.
