For the SHORT TEST, set the FUNCTION switch to SHORT TEST and rotate switch D through all positions. The short indicator light will glow if the tube is shorted or has excessive leakage. Disregard faint flashes in the short indicator. Additional tests include checking for filament sensitivity by performing a LIFE TEST. If the meter reading falls to the question mark or BAD area, the tube should be replaced.
