Manual Overview
The Sencore LC75 Capacitor-Inductor Analyzer is designed for testing capacitors and inductors, providing measurements such as capacitance, inductance, leakage, and equivalent series resistance (ESR). For troubleshooting, the manual emphasizes safety precautions, including ensuring power is removed from the unit under test and using an isolation transformer to prevent shock hazards. Error diagnostics involve interpreting value readings, with specific procedures for testing different capacitor types, such as aluminum electrolytics and tantalum lytics, and identifying issues like dielectric absorption and leakage. Calibration and adjustments include zeroing the test leads and balancing out lead inductance. Board-level guidance is provided for testing components on printed circuit boards, with specific instructions for checking inductors and capacitors for faults like open windings or short circuits. The manual also includes detailed procedures for reforming lytics and testing components such as silicon diodes and transistors. Proper maintenance involves regular checks of test leads and fuses, ensuring accurate readings and operational safety.
Quick Issues Covered
- Diagnose capacitor leakage with up to 600V applied during tests.
- Calibrate zeroing adjustments for accurate capacitance and inductance readings.
- Use circuit schematics for tracing and troubleshooting component issues.

Safety & Warnings
Do not attempt to check capacitors in-circuit. This instrument should be operated by a technically trained person who understands the shock hazard of up to 600 Volts applied to test leads during capacitor leakage tests. Do not use this instrument in circuits with power applied. Remove the AC line cord and discharge filter capacitors before making any test lead connections. Never exceed the limits of this instrument as given in the specification section and the additional warnings in this manual. A severe shock hazard can result if the chassis of the equipment being tested is tied to the “hot” side of the AC line. Always remove the AC line cord when testing components with this type of equipment. If the unit is to be put into operation, use an isolation transformer. Ensure that the top of the bench and the floor underneath it are dry and made of non-conducting material. Ensure your equipment is in good order; broken or frayed test leads can cause improper test results. Remove the test leads immediately after the tests have been completed to reduce the possibility of shock. Do not work alone when working on hazardous circuits. Always have another person close by in case of an accident. Improper fuses void the warranty. Always replace fuses with the proper type and current rating. Do not defeat the third wire ground on the AC line cord.
