Installation / Setup
The installation of the electric clock timer kits involves several key steps. First, ensure the power cord is unplugged and all wires are disconnected from the chassis terminals. The receiver should be placed face down on a clean towel to avoid damage. The cabinet is removed by unscrewing the rear fasteners. For certain models, a cabinet release screw may need to be loosened.
The installation involves removing screws and nuts to detach the plastic window and medallion plate from the front panel. The clock window is then placed in the panel opening, and the clock’s front plate assembly is positioned behind the panel. Screws are used to secure the clock mechanism to the front panel.
Wiring involves unsoldering and connecting specific wires to the clock switch terminal and the operations switch terminal. The clock assembly’s wires are routed and soldered to the appropriate terminals, ensuring they are tied down to avoid interference with other components.
For HQ-100, HQ-100A, and HQ-110, HQ-110A models, a shaft extension is cut and attached to the clock’s rear shaft. After all connections are verified, the receiver is reassembled by placing it back into the cabinet and securing it with screws. The clock switch knob is then attached.
The installation requires basic tools and can be performed by relatively inexperienced personnel. It is important to use a clean soldering iron and radio-grade rosin core solder, avoiding fluxes and overheating to prevent damage.

Safety & Warnings
CAUTION: The same clock movement may not be used on 50 and 60 cycle. A 50 cycle clock will run fast when used on 60 cycle and a 60 cycle clock will run slow on 50 cycles. Please read these step-by-step instructions carefully and follow them in detail. In making solder connections, use a light, clean soldering iron and radio-grade rosin core solder only. DO NOT use fluxes of any kind in making solder connections. Do not overheat connections to avoid deteriorating associated insulating materials. Make certain that the power cord plug is removed from the power outlet. When making soldered connections, be careful to prevent the hot soldering iron from contacting the plastic dial scale.

Basic Usage and Operation Tips
To operate the Hammarlund Electric Clock Timer Kit, first ensure all components are correctly assembled as per the instruction manual. Set the desired timing interval by adjusting the dial or switches on the timer mechanism. Connect the timer in series with the electrical device you wish to control, ensuring proper wiring and secure connections. Power the unit and verify that the timer cycles through the set intervals, switching the connected device on and off as programmed. For best results, periodically check the timer settings and recalibrate if necessary.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
If the timer fails to operate correctly, first confirm all wiring connections are secure and that the power supply is stable. Inspect the clock mechanism for dust or debris and clean gently with a soft brush if needed. Lubricate moving parts sparingly according to the maintenance instructions in the manual. If timing intervals are inconsistent, recalibrate the timer or replace worn components. Regular maintenance will ensure reliable operation and extend the life of the device.
Safety Reminder
Always disconnect power before assembling, installing, or servicing the timer kit. Use caution when working with electrical components to prevent shock or injury. Follow all local electrical codes and standards. Do not exceed the recommended electrical load ratings to avoid damage or hazards. Keep the device away from moisture and extreme temperatures to maintain safe operation.
