Safety & Warnings

Never connect two pieces of “hot chassis” equipment to ISOLATED OUTPUT outlets simultaneously to avoid a serious shock hazard. An electrical shock with 10 milliamps of current through the heart can be fatal. Voltage as low as 35 volts dc or ac rms is dangerous and can produce a lethal current. Avoid exposing high voltage needlessly and only remove housings and covers when necessary. Turn off equipment while making test connections in high-voltage circuits and discharge high-voltage capacitors after removing power. Familiarize yourself with the equipment being tested and the location of its high voltage points. Use an insulated floor material or a large, insulated floor mat to stand on, and an insulated work surface. Avoid damp or wet surfaces. Use the “one hand in the pocket” technique while handling an instrument probe and avoid contacting nearby metal objects. Remember that ac line voltage is usually present on some power input circuits whenever the equipment is connected to an ac outlet, even if turned off. Never work alone; someone should be nearby to render aid if necessary. Training in CPR first aid is highly recommended.

Basic Usage and Operation Tips

Before using the Bk-precision-1655, ensure the device is powered on and properly calibrated. Select the appropriate measurement mode using the rotary switch. Connect the test leads to the correct terminals and the circuit under test. For voltage measurements, use parallel connection; for current, connect in series. Always start with the highest range to prevent damage and switch to a lower range for more precise readings. Use the data hold function to freeze the displayed value for easier reading.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

If the multimeter displays erratic readings or fails to power on, check the battery and replace it if necessary. Ensure test leads are intact and properly connected. Clean the device regularly with a dry cloth and avoid exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures. If the device shows overload or out-of-range indicators frequently, verify the measurement settings and test connections. For persistent issues, consult the full manual or contact authorized service centers.

Safety Reminder

Always observe safety precautions when using the Bk-precision-1655. Do not exceed the maximum input limits to avoid electric shock or damage. Use insulated test leads and avoid measuring live circuits without proper protective equipment. Disconnect power before changing test setups and never operate the device in wet or explosive environments. Proper handling ensures your safety and prolongs the life of the multimeter.
