Overview

The Rohde & Schwarz Triple DC Power Supplies, models NGT 20, NGT 25, and NGT 35, are designed as constant-voltage sources with current limiting capabilities, and can also function as constant-current sources for less stringent requirements. These power supplies feature separate operation, series or parallel connection of the three voltage sources, and tracking operation for channels A and B. They include overvoltage protection for the 6-V output (channel C), high-resolution voltage setting with a ten-turn potentiometer, and short-circuit protection. Each output has a switchable meter for voltage or current, and the outputs are floating with test voltages up to 1000 V to earth. The manual covers the general features, specifications, preparation for use, operation, adjustment, and maintenance of the power supplies.

Installation / Setup

The set is factory-adjusted for operation from a 220 V AC supply. To adapt it to 110 V, the position of the voltage selector on the rear panel must be changed and 4-A fuses inserted. The set connects to the local AC supply via a patch cord with a plug that has an earthing contact. When switched on, the lamp in the power switch on the front panel lights up.

Operation

The operation of the Triple DC Power Supplies involves using the left-hand ten-turn potentiometers for voltage adjustment and the right-hand ones for current adjustment. The toggle switches marked “INSTRUMENT” allow for the selection of voltage (V) or current (A) indication. Loads should be connected to the floating terminals marked with + and -. The sockets marked with the earth symbol are connected to the chassis and the non-fused earth conductor. A green lamp above the current potentiometer indicates when the channel operates with current limiting.
